Hip Replacement

Precision joint reconstruction to restore fluid, painless hip articulation.

Procedure Overview

Total Hip Replacement (hip arthroplasty) is an advanced procedure that replaces a damaged, arthritic hip joint with a premium prosthetic ball and socket. This procedure aims to relieve chronic groin or thigh pain, correct leg length differences, and restore fluid hip mobility.

Surgical Approach & Technique

The worn femoral head (ball) is removed and replaced with a metal or ceramic ball attached to a stem that fits inside the femur. The damaged socket (acetabulum) is cleared and lined with a metal shell and a high-durability plastic or ceramic liner.

Procedure Highlights

  • Groove/Socket resurfacing
  • High-durability ceramic bearing surfaces
  • Anatomical restoration of leg alignment

Who May Be a Candidate?

  • Patients with advanced hip osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Individuals suffering from avascular necrosis (loss of blood supply to the femoral head).
  • Patients with severe hip fractures or developmental hip dysplasia.

Common Symptoms & Conditions

  • Pain in the groin, thigh, or buttock during walking or bending.
  • Difficulty putting on shoes or socks due to hip stiffness.
  • Limping or leg length discrepancy caused by joint collapse.

Postoperative Recovery Pathway

Patients typically walk with support on the day of surgery. Gait training and gentle stretching exercises are introduced early. Hip precaution guidelines (avoiding extreme bending or twisting) are taught to protect the joint during the initial 6 to 12 weeks of healing.
